WWTP Litomyšl (CZ) – KUBÍČEK SCREW blowers

For many years, we regularly serviced and maintained the original three LuToS blower units at the Litomyšl wastewater treatment plant. During that time, we also supplied several new KUBÍČEK units to the facility.

Operator, VODOVODY spol. s r.o., turned to us with a question about the possibility of supplying more economical modern units with screw rotors, which would fully replace 3 large DITL70 blowers with 45 kW motors.

At the end of August 2026, we therefore replaced all three original units with modern KUBÍČEK screw blowers (model SD60B-200) of the same capacity; however, these operate using significantly smaller 37 kW motors in the highest efficiency class, IE4.

Our innovative solution combines the best of the worlds of Roots blowers and screw compressors.

The machinery room, which is partially recessed below ground, presented a logistical challenge; it was necessary to dismantle not only the original machinery assembly but also a section of the original interconnecting piping and the makeshift noise dampers —which, however, had long since ceased to function effectively. Consequently, sound pressure levels in the blower room were extremely high.

The new interconnecting piping—including shut-off valves and blower connections—was fabricated with great precision by our long-term partner, FORTEX-AGS, a.s.

Even though the new units were delivered without noise enclosures, the noise level in the blower room is incomparably lower, which has significantly improved the working environment for operators and service technicians.

Given the high efficiency of the screw blowers and IE4 motors, we anticipate a significant reduction in operating costs, which we will monitor at the wastewater treatment plant over the long term.

A major advantage is that the entire original electrical installation was preserved, meaning the customer did not have to make any additional investments or modifications to the wastewater treatment plant’s control system.

The new KUBÍČEK screw blower units are thus already reliably serving as the primary air sources for the Litomyšl wastewater treatment plant.
