Overhaul of Wilhelm Klein SH 72-4 blower – Staropramen Brewery (CZ)

At the end of 2024, one of our important customers, Pivovary Staropramen, s. r. o., Praha – Smíchov, contacted us for the repeated overhaul of their Wilhelm Klein SH 72-4 blower manufactured in 1996.

This large ROOTs blower with two piston rotors has a capacity of 7 080 m3/h, at 40 kPa overpressure and 960 rpm, and is driven by a 250 kW electric motor.

It is used in the brewery to extract steam from the brewhouse, which is then used to preheat other boilers.

After the necessary preparations to arrange the repair at our factory, our service technicians dismantled the blower at the end of January 2025 at the Staropramen Brewery, and after a complicated lifting by crane over the roof of the building where it is operated, we transported it to our workshop in Velké Losiny for overhaul.

Due to customer’s request for the repair to be carried out as quickly as possible, the overhaul started the very next day after delivery. Despite the fact that some parts had to be renovated in a complicated way, after only 4 weeks we were able to declare “We are finished”. By using the latest technologies such as tungsten carbide hot spraying, we are able to “keep alive” even blowers as old and worn as this one, which is almost 30 years old.

We then installed the blower back at the customer’s site in Prague, and it is now reliably performing its function again.

We are proud of the fact that, in addition to manufacturing new blowers, we are also able to successfully carry out renovation projects of other manufacturers’ roots blowers, and that our customers repeatedly contact us with such projects with confidence.
